About me
I'm Stephanie, and I’m here to serve your family as your Special Education Advocate. I have over nine years of experience in special education advocacy. My Special Education Advocate journey began when our son, who has a diagnosis of autism and muscular dystrophy, was mistreated and illegally restrained as a preschooler.
The frustration from our son’s school experience fueled a quest to learn about special education law and increase my negotiating skills. This early knowledge helped me navigate the needs of our son, as well as those of other families struggling with the school system.
I decided to make my Special Education Advocacy a professional endeavor in 2024. I sought out all related educational outlets possible and have completed Wright’s Law: Special Education Law and Advocacy, as well as the Special Education Advocate Training from the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA).
Before becoming a non-attorney Special Education Advocate, I had a twenty-year career in animal welfare; fifteen years as the executive director of CHA Animal Shelter.
In my free time, I enjoy serving my community. I continue to serve CHA Animal Shelter by providing critical care to foster kittens. I have served on the Board of Directors for Autism Society Central Ohio (ASCO) since 2020, with the last several years as Vice President. Additionally, I serve on COPAA's Advocate and Conference committees and am a board member for LifeWise Academy.
Our family is Christian in faith and strives to live by God’s word first. As such, we host a Bible study for special needs families, where the kids are at the center of the action and are celebrated.
I’m excited to get to know your family and begin advocating for your student.
